get to know us

Dealing with health issues can be a difficult situation. You shouldn’t have to deal with them on your own. We are skilled and experienced physiotherapists who are passionate about your wellbeing.

We view every patient holistically and aim to design a management plan specifically for your needs.

We value quality, unrushed and evidence based care.

We treat and follow up our own clients to ensure continuity. You do not get passed around between therapists.

The cornerstones of our treatment philosophy are: biomechanical assessment/correction, hands-on therapy, focused rehabilitation and empowering you to be part of your journey to healing.

We hope to provide a space where you feel you've been heard, helped and got better.

A place of honesty.

HELEN HENNING

M.Sc Physiotherapy

I graduated from Stellenbosch University in 1997 and went on to complete my Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy diploma and M.Sc in Physiotherapy. I would describe myself as a lifelong learner, continueing to learn through numerous post graduate courses, my own curiosity and my patients. Part time lecturing at Stellenbosch University has been a joy and I am also fortunate to be actively involved in the Durbanville Pelvic Floor Unit and the My Sexual Health Team.

My interest in the pelvic floor developed after the birth of my boys. Until then, I viewed the pelvic floor as an inner core muscle responsible for stability around the spine and pelvis – but soon realised that it does so much more … and that there are many patients who need help in this area.

Through my own challenges in the lower spine area I have learned that pain has many shades of grey - it is not as black and white as the medical models would like us to think. I truly believe that empowering someone to manage their pain gives them freedom. I am passionate about passing this knowledge on to clients by providing a balance between treatment, strength, flexibility and your headspace (what you know, what you believe and what you tell yourself).

I love seeing patients grow into learning how they can be part of managing their own pain. And when I'm not revelling in your success - I'm probably reading, cooking up a storm or hanging with my kids.

MARIANNA MARAIS

B.Sc Physiotherapy

I graduated from Stellenbosch university in 1997 and completed my diploma in Sports Physiotherapy thereafter.  My interest in sport started as a youngster participating in cycling, gymnastics and hockey where the odd ankle sprain or muscle injury led me to a visit at the physiotherapist. The active work environment and fact that you could make an impact on someones's well being initially attracted me to the profession.

I was raised as one of six children in an active household where great emphasis was placed on holistic well being. You also had to contribute and participate to help the whole system work efficiently. These principles have shaped my outlook on life and my profession: to be a good therapist, spouse, mother of three, and friend, I need to make time for acitvities that help to replenish and rejuvinate me.  Also, our body is a fine balance of different systems that need to function together in order to be pain free and functional.

Over the last 8 years I have developed a keen interest in pelvic disorders. This is a very challenging and until recently poorly managed field. I find it rewarding to be part of a multidisciplinary team who strive to find a solution to manage these problems effectively.

I am passionate about pilates, mountain biking and some trail running.  I try to understand the mind of a runner, but often find I would like to convert them to the freedom on a bike!
